Antonia Lofaso

Antonia's Lofaso invites you to explore her inner world through her food creations. She developed a curiousity about food when she moved from suburban Long Island to the diverse culture that is Los Angeles. Cavatelli, carnitas and other dishes can all coexist in a single menu. The menu is constantly shifting taste. Every dish she serves is created by her own perspective for the future while also retaining a nostalgic longing for the past. Scopa Italian Roots was opened in 2013 by Lofaso who was influenced to her Italian American heritage. The restaurant received a warm welcome. Lofaso's version of traditional Italian is widely praised as one of the top eateries for Italian cuisine located in Los Angeles. The customers describe Scopa as an important neighborhood staple where Lofaso consistently serves meals that are delicious and unquestionably satisfying. Lofaso was a trainee to chefs, learning their methods and taking risks. She did not hesitate to take risks to pursue her own intuition. She rose quickly through the ranks at Wolfgang Puck's Spago and went on to make a difference in the kitchens of famous chefs in Los Angeles while working closely with celebrities of all kinds. Lofaso, Sal Aurora, and Mario Guddemi partnered to open Black Market Liquor Bar Studio City in 2011. Lofaso's home was found within Black Market Liquor Bar and her business partnerships. The partnership would allow for creativity and freedom Lofaso was looking for. Black Market does not have one direction and this is its intention. One course may begin with potatoes chips, peppers and shishito, followed by Korean wings, meatballs, and lobster rolls. Antonia is the anchor of this menu. Throughout her career Lofaso has measured her achievements with her innate capacity to listen to her audience and remaining true to her personality. Her work has appeared in several television shows for instance Top Chef Chicago, Top Chef: All Stars and Cutthroat Kitchen Man vs. Child on The Food Network and ABC's Real O'neals. Her talents continue to be recognized as a judge for the CNBC show Restaurant Startup. In 2012, Lofaso collaborated with Penguin to launch"The Busy Mother's Cookbook 100 recipes for quick Delicious Home-cooked Meals, which also tells the story of the challenges she encountered while studying at the prestigious French Culinary Institute, and simultaneously raising her daughter Xea. Lofaso insists that the drive behind all of her accomplishments originates from the kitchen. It is in this way that she has a an eye on the pulse of.
